CHELSEA PLAYER JOHN OBI MIKEL CALLS SIASIA, REASSURES ON RIO 2016 PARTICIPATION
Chelsea mifielder John Obi Mikel has reassured head coach of the Nigeria U-23s Samson Siasia that he will be at the Rio 2016 Olympic games with the Nigeria team.
Mikel has been included as one of the three overage players for Nigeria at he Olympics but they have been doubts if he will be released by the Premiership giants but according to a source close to the 29 year old he has called to confirm to coach of the Nigeria team that he will be available for the Olympics.
“Mikel had a chat with Siasia and he will definitely be at the Olympics, he is just waiting to meet with new coach Antonio Conte after that he will join the Nigerian team in the USA where they are camped.
“There has never been fears or doubts about his participation as it has been agreed with Chelsea since last season when he was sounded out by the coach of the Nigeria U-23s”.
The Nigerian who is the second longest serving player among the current players at Chelsea is however yet to extend his deal with the club with he is current deal set to expire in two years time.
